Connie Kau

 Dancer, Choreograph

She was born in Pretoria, South Africa. Completed Grade 12 at Tsogo High School, then she started dancing Ballroom and Latin American Dance at Mmabatho Arts Council and received the student teacher qualifications in that, as well as Freestyle and Rock and Roll.  In 1996 she went to study Edu-Dance with Moving Into Dance directed by Sylvia Glasser and joined the performing company in 1997 till 2003.  She was a choreographer, a teacher, a rehearsal director and won a couple of awards including the Most Promising Female Dancer in Contemporary Dance Style from the FNB Dance Umbrella.  In 2004 she joined Tshwane Dance Theatre directed by Mandla Mcunu as a public relations officer, dancer, choreographer, teacher.  In 2006 was in Disney’s musical production The Lion King South Africa and toured Taipei in 2008.

She has received The MEC Phillip Steyn Young Choreographers Grant and won Most Outstanding Female Dancer in Cotemporary dance style from the FNB Dance Umbrella in 2006.

 

She has travelled different parts of the world and has done a lot of corporate works including TV advertisments.
